Un homme sauve un chiot abandonné près d’un lac et finit par l’adopter

Un accueil temporaire

Lorsqu’il a rencontré la chienne, Nick n’était pas en état d’accueillir un animal au sein de son foyer. Il a tout de même décidé de l’aider temporairement, au moins pour la tirer de sa triste situation. Sur TikTok, il raconte :

« J’étais parti pêcher et je suis tombé sur un chiot qui avait été abandonné au lac Louis Burtschi. Quand je suis arrivé, un pick-up repartait et le chiot courait dans ma direction en poursuivant le véhicule. Impossible de savoir si ces personnes étaient celles qui l’avaient abandonné. J’ai fait demi-tour une seconde pour essayer d’attirer l’attention du camion, mais ils ont accéléré et sont partis. Je suis donc retourné vers le chiot… »

Last Thursday I went fishing and came across a puppy that was dumped at Lake Louis Burtschi. When I pulled in, a truck was leaving and a puppy was coming my direction, chasing the other truck. Who knows if those people are who dumped the pup. I turned around for a sec trying to get the truck’s attention and they sped off. Then I go back toward the puppy and it had walked out on the dock. I then got out of my truck and that’s where the video picks up. I took her to a vet/family friend, who was 10 min away. No microchip. They gave a rabies vax and checked her stool. Had a parasite so they gave meds to treat with along with flea/tick meds. I saw some ticks on her and took her to a groomer for flea/tick bath. They plucked 40-50 ticks. Poor thing. When my late dog Bud passed, I kept his stuff - dog bowls, seat cover, etc, so I went by my Mom’s house to get all of that along with a spare crate my Mom had. We eventually got home and we settled in. She ate. She got in the crate and slept all night without crying. Vet thinks she’s 5-8 months old and doubts she will grow much more. 21 lbs. Has all her adult teeth. I reached out to some rescues but haven’t heard back yet. I’ll care for her and love on her until she has a good home. I wish I could keep her for good but my current life situation doesn’t allow it. :( Considering what month it is and that I found her at Lake Louis Burtschi, I named her June Lou for the time being. Nick a nommé la petite chienne June, mais a rapidement prévenu sa communauté : il ne comptait pas adopter l’animal. « J’ai contacté plusieurs associations mais je n’ai pas encore eu de réponse. En attendant, je vais prendre soin d’elle et lui donner tout l’amour possible jusqu’à ce qu’elle trouve un bon foyer. J’aimerais pouvoir la garder pour de bon, mais ma situation actuelle ne le permet pas [...] N’hésitez pas à partager avec toute personne qui pourrait être intéressée par cette petite âme si douce. »

June trouve sa vraie famille

Les vidéos de Nick et June ont fait beaucoup de bruit sur TikTok et ont été relayées par PetHelpful. Grâce à l’attention générée par ces contenus viraux, Nick a trouvé une famille intéressée par June. Et ainsi, leur histoire se concluait… Mais peu de temps après l’adoption de la chienne, Nick a été de nouveau contacté par la famille.

« J’avais demandé une faveur à l’époque : si jamais ça ne marchait pas pour une raison quelconque, de m’appeler, et je viendrais récupérer June. Quelques jours plus tard, j’ai reçu un coup de téléphone. On m’a dit que June serait mieux dans un foyer où elle serait le seul chien. Sans hésiter, j’ai répondu que je viendrais la chercher. Mais cette fois, je la garderai pour toujours. »

I picked June back up over the weekend. We’re back together again for good. If you’re new here, I went fishing back on 6.19.2025 and found a puppy that had been dumped. I named her June. I thought long and hard about it and at that time, I decided I couldn’t keep her. A video I shared about her went viral and I eventually connected with a wonderful family in Virginia. After a talk on the phone, I decided they were a great fit, so I drove to Tennessee to meet them. On 6.29.2025 June was with her new family. I asked a favor at the time - I said that if it didn’t work out for whatever reason, to please call me and I would come back to get June. I received a phone call a few days later. It was said that June would be better in a home where she’s the only dog. Without hesitation, I said I would come back and get her. But this time, I would keep her for good. I drove from Oklahoma to Nashville and back this past weekend to pick June up and bring her home for good. One of the things that held me back from keeping her the first time is my living situation and the fact that I’m 45 min away from where I work most of the time. I would be gone too much and didn’t want to leave June at home since it’s only me - no kids, no spouse/gf, and no other dog. Well, I found out that I’m able to get out of my lease so I will be moving back to OKC and things will be much better and easier on the 2 of us. Once we move in August or September, June will begin some training and therapy to hopefully overcome her fears of other dogs. Some have asked to help financially. I’ll set up a GoFundMe link soon. Things always work out the way they are supposed to. Always. Thank you to everyone who has been so invested in this story. Safe to say this story is about both us so I’ll soon change my name on TikTok to reflect that. ??? A big thank you to the family in Virginia who gave June a 2 week vacation. Nick, qui ne pensait pas adopter, est finalement devenu le nouveau papa de cette charmante boule de poils. D’après le vétérinaire, June a entre 5 et 8 mois. Elle a toute la vie devant elle, et va pouvoir la passer dans un foyer aimant, en sécurité, auprès de son sauveur.
